Your Doula.

The Birth Companion for Expats.

During your maternity, there are many choices to face.
As Your Doula, I will support and help you personally along your way.

Motivated to Support & Help You

My name is Sian Buck, I am British and my husband is Swiss, and together we have two adult children. I have been happily living here in Switzerland for over 30 years.

My motivation to become a doula stems from my own experience as an expat in Zürich and of giving birth without any family support nearby.

A personal birth companion brings reassurance and security. My aim is to make you feel at ease and more at home in whatever birth environment you choose to have.

What is a Doula?

A doula can relate easily and compassionately, as she is also a mother. The chemistry between a birth companion and the mother-to-be is an important factor. This is especially so, as a doula has a holistic training and approach to childbirth, and not a medically based one. She is someone you can share your hopes, fears and joys with. Once she becomes your doula, then she is committed to supporting you and your family.

My General Services

Before the Birth

I always offer a non-binding, initial meeting free of charge to discuss your needs and wishes. Once I officially become your doula, a minimum of two further meetings follow (in person / phone / online).

For two weeks before and after your due date,  I offer an “on-call” service where you can contact me anytime seven days a week, giving personal, attentive care and support during labour and birth.

NEW: Prenatal Yoga

Prenatal yoga can bring real benefits, it strengthens the body, calms the mind and gives you the time and space to focus on your body & your baby.

Combined with mindful relaxing breathing techniques, it is very possible that you will feel the benefits of your practice helping you during your labour too.

I have practiced yoga for many years now and I know how beneficial it can be, when done safely. I am happy to offer individual Yoga sessions at your home or online - also in small groups if requested (for groups - a class fee would apply).

Please check with your doctor that Prenatal Yoga is suitable for you.
